72003 'Clan Fraser' at the head of a empty mineral/goods near Larkfield Sidings Glasgow. Very fine study, no fields and almost certainly no larks either, Larkfield Sidings were part of the large railway complex serving Glasgow and its industries, along with many other railway features they have now gone, however Glasgow still has quite an intricate network of lines, stations and depots providing an excellent suburban service. So much atmosphere in this picture, the backs of the granite tennaments with their crowds of chimney pots leading the eye to 72003's own chimney; train of 5 plank wagons on the left each characterised by a different pattern of newly painted replacement boards, one freshly painted all over; splendid signal gantry with another in the distance, with three S and T men on the end tending to the lamps and mechanisms; the driver has an eye on the cameraman, his train is swinging across and will pass very close; imagine the musical clanging of all those four wheeled trucks passing, jostling buffers and counting rail joints. We have a growing collection of fine photographs of the ten original Clans at work on British Railways. We are grateful to all the photographers who have kindly made their pictures available. We will change the current selection from time to time.
